ABOUT LULU WATSON

Lulu Watson is an emerging multi-media visual artist based in Queensland Australia; she is completing a Bachelor of Visual Arts at the University of Southern Queensland. Her work is based in sculpture, textiles and printmaking, creating commentary on the physiological and cultural effects of technology and consumerism. Watson’s practice investigates the effects of modern problems, whether that be the cognitive effects of an overuse of technology, the micro plastics in every crevice of the globe, or the effects of overconsumption on culture and ethics. Using time consuming and procedural mediums like embroidery, needle felting and hard point etching the artist escapes from a fast paced 21st century. Watson’s work not only serves to draw attention to the darker sides of the modern world but also convey the artist's experiences within this world. Watson's work has received commendations in the Junior Art Expo 2021 and have been exhibited in 'Early Work' and 'Relay' with 'the Corridor Collective'. Lulu is the co-founder and co-manager of said collective.
